Many Shades of Green

I love a brief that challenges me, and Claire and Cédric’s wedding is one that I’ll remember forever, for all the right reasons. Theirs was a suite of wedding flowers without a single flower in sight. Instead, their naturally elegant Welsh country house wedding was a fanfare in foliage and ferns.

I love how textural everything about these arrangements was. It took real guts from the couple to go green and green only, but the result was modern, chic and the resounding with the sort of wildness that I love most. I used a range of ferns, from glossy deep green leaves to feathery pale fronds, plus olive, eucalyptus and rubus (which always makes me think of country hedgerows after rain – I love it!).  Alongside the many shades of green in Cédric and Claire’s wedding foliage, I incorporated pheasant feathers, old books and antique medicine bottles. These drew the eye, and fitted the old world elegance of their day perfectly.
